Artificial Intelligence (AI) holds transformative potential for addressing some of the world’s most pressing challenges, particularly in the realm of sustainable development. This study explores the role of AI in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a focus on key areas such as climate change, healthcare, energy efficiency, and education. The paper adopts a multidisciplinary approach, examining the integration of AI technologies from the perspectives of engineering, environmental science, economics, and policy studies. The research also discusses ethical considerations, data privacy concerns, and the importance of collaborative international frameworks to ensure equitable access to AI solutions. The findings highlight AI’s capacity to drive sustainable innovation, but also caution against potential risks if not deployed responsibly. A series of recommendations are presented for policymakers, researchers, and industry leaders to optimize AI for sustainable development.
